Handcrafted Electric Violins

Emmett Electric Violins is a one man operation and each violin is handcrafted  individually using traditional tools. Available in 4 or 5 strings.

Emmett Electric Violins began in 2020. After over a decade playing fiddle on the road professionally, I went to formal violinmaking school to learn the craft. When the school shut down for COVID, I wanted to practice the tool skills I was learning. I used some spare wood and came up with a prototype design for a solid body electric violin that had traits of what I was learning at school. I used the template that I made and created a top shape loosely based on the Guarneri Du Diable violin. The goal was to create a lightweight, minimalistic take on the electric violin. I wanted to capture the feel, look, and sound of an amplified violin, but with a modern approach. The design evolved over several years and became a success with players from all styles. Emmett Electric Violins was born.

Each violin is handcrafted individually using traditional methods and tools. Finishes are applied completely by hand, and every pickup is also hand made individually for each violin.

A Proprietary dual element pickup system is new for 2026, and will only be available on Emmett Electric Violins. The pickup delivers a clean, warm, and full natural tone, with rich lows, sweet highs, and a strong output signal.
